Formed by Discipline, Led by Faith: The Formed To Fight Mission

Welcome to Formed To Fight

If you're reading this, you're standing at the starting line with me.

This is my first blog post. My first real attempt at putting my story, my mission, and my message out into the world in this way. I won't pretend I have it all figured out, but I know why I'm here, and I know what I'm called to do.

Who I Am

My name is Gene Cooper, and my life has been shaped by two powerful forces: the discipline of military service and the transformation of faith.

I served in the United States Navy for 26 honorable years, where I learned what it means to lead under pressure, to push through when everything in you wants to quit, and to understand that real strength isn't just physical - it's mental, emotional, and spiritual. The military didn't just teach me how to fight. It formed me into someone who understands sacrifice, commitment, and purpose.

But it was my journey from bootcamp to the Bible that truly changed everything. My faith has always been the anchor that shapes my character and decisions. As my leadership responsibilities grew, I saw the need to model biblical principles—servanthood, integrity, and courage—in both ministry and professional settings. Integrating faith with leadership is not just a choice for me; it's part of my mission.

Today, I serve as a gospel preacher and a budding author, taking everything, I learned in the Navy and everything God has taught me through His Word to help others lead with purpose.

What Formed To Fight Is About

Formed To Fight isn't just a business. It's a mission.

This platform exists to help leaders - whether you're leading a team at work, serving in ministry, or just trying to lead your own life with purpose - discover the strength that comes from being formed by both discipline and faith.

Too many people think leadership is about being the loudest voice in the room or having all the answers. Real leadership is about being formed through challenges, refined through hardship, and grounded in something bigger than yourself.

Through this blog, my YouTube channel, and my book From Bootcamp to the Bible, I'm sharing what I've learned about:

  • Leadership that lasts - principles that work in the boardroom, the battlefield, and the church
  • Faith that fights - not passive religion, but active, courageous faith that drives you forward
  • The journey from who you were to who you're called to be

My Goals For This Space

I'm not here to sell you something (though yes, I wrote a book, and I hope you'll read it). I'm here to build something real.

My goals are simple:

  1. Share what I've learned - from military service, from ministry, from mistakes and victories
  2. Build a community - of people who want to lead with purpose and fight for what matters
  3. Point you toward truth - the kind found in Scripture, in hard-won experience, and in honest conversation
  4. Help you grow - as a leader, as a person of faith, as someone who refuses to settle for mediocre

I'll be posting here regularly - stories from my journey, leadership lessons, faith insights, and practical tools you can use. Some posts will be raw and personal. Others will be tactical and instructive. All of them will be honest.

What I Need From You

Just show up. Read. Engage. Challenge me if you disagree. Share what resonates.

And if you know someone who needs to hear this message - someone stuck between who they were and who they're meant to be - send them here.

We're all being formed by something. The question is whether we're being formed into who we're actually called to be.

Let's figure that out together.
